January 26, 2016  By GANA

Jan. 26, 2016 – Viracon will sponsor the Welcome Reception at the GANA BEC 2016 Conference to be held Feb. 21-23 in Las Vegas. The BEC Conference will feature motivational speaker, Johnny Bench, former MLB catcher for the Cincinnati Reds and Hall of Fame inductee. The event will also showcase industry experts such as Serge Martin, Vice President of Marketing, AGC, who will provide an update on the state of the glazing industry. Kai-Uwe Bergmann, a partner at BIG, an architectural firm will also share his industry insights on innovation at the BEC Conference.

This year marks the 20th BEC Conference, a key industry event that provides a platform for contract glaziers, suppliers and stakeholders to connect and discuss challenges and opportunities in the glass and glazing industry.  To contribute to the success of the event, Viracon will serve as the sponsor of the Welcome Reception. The networking receptions are one of the most well-attended features of the conference.

Garret Henson, Viracon’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing recalls the partnership between GANA and Viracon throughout the twenty years of the BEC Conference, “Since the inception of the BEC conference series, Viracon has been an active participant because there is a unique value in the networking that occurs at this event.  But beyond the mutual value of networking, sponsoring educational events like this is another way in which Viracon can support the community of glazing contractors. Our customers have attended this conference year after year to stay informed of industry trends and we are glad to be a part of bringing this opportunity to them again in 2016.”

In addition to their generous sponsorship, Viracon President Kelly Schuller will serve on the “Design and Fabrication of Oversized Glass” panel discussion. Large glass panels are being used more frequently in projects as part of a trend to expand total vision area and increase transparency. This panel presentation will demystify the use of large format glass and address fabrication and design concerns both in the shop and in the field. Schuler was named Viracon president in October 2011 after serving as Viracon’s senior vice president of sales and marketing for the prior year. Before joining Viracon in late 2010, he spent just under five years with Viracon’s parent company Apogee Enterprises as Vice President, Strategy and Business Development.
