August 31, 2015  By IGMA

Aug. 31, 2015 – The 2015 IGMA Fall Technical Conference will feature double duty by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Robert Tenent. He will be giving a lunch presentation covering several topics of importance to the IG industry, as well as hosting attendees at a tour of the NREL laboratories in nearby Golden, Colorado. This state of the art facility has a mission focus on Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy and Systems Integration. The conference will be held in beautiful downtown Denver, Colorado, at the luxurious and historic Brown Palace Hotel October 5th through 8th.

Robert Tenent oversees the Emerging Technologies portfolio for the Buildings Technologies Program at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). NREL’s buildings portfolio includes work in fundamental materials development, software development for building energy modeling and techno-economic analysis of building materials and technologies manufacturing. Prior to his time with NREL, Tenent worked across a broad range of materials science research in both the private and public sector including universities and large venture backed startups with a focus on materials and device integration. During his tenure with NREL Tenent has conducted research into materials for photovoltaic, energy storage and building materials applications. His research teams within the NREL Buildings Program have been repeatedly recognized at local, state and national levels for innovation in technology development and technology transfer including R&D100 Awards, Colorado Governor’s Award for High Impact Research and multiple awards for excellence in technology transfer.

The majority of his work has focused on the development and refinement of dynamic “smart” windows technologies that has led to multiple licensing deals with a variety of companies including recent NREL spin-out e-Chromic Technologies. Tenent’s research interests in the buildings sector focus on the development of new dynamic materials for responsive architecture that adapts to environmental conditions. Tenent received his Ph.D. from Mississippi State University in 2000 and B.S. from Millsaps College in 1994. He has been a member of the NREL staff since 2007.

During Tenent’s presentation, he will focus on:
