Kawneer Company, an Alcoa business and a manufacturer of architectural
aluminum building products and systems for commercial construction,
recently introduced its Solector Sun Shading Estimator tool. Developed
for architects to use early in the design phase, this easy-to-use tool
helps determine how blade angles, size and orientation impact the
shading performance of sunshades.
The Solector Sun Shading Estimator can compare the annual shading
performance of two scenarios using Versoleil Single Blade sunshades on a
façade. In addition to calculating the shading performance, Solector
Sun Shading Estimator also provides an estimate of cooling energy and
cost savings on an annual basis, using broad assumptions. Energy savings
are calculated based on solar heat gain avoided due to exterior shading
of the façade.
