Kawneer, an Alcoa business and a leading manufacturer of architectural
aluminum products and systems for the commercial construction industry,
has expanded its Versoleil SunShade platform. First introduced in a
single-blade system for curtain wall, Versoleil is now more versatile
with the addition of three new sunshade systems: Outrigger for Curtain
Wall and Storefront as well as Single Blade for Storefront.

Pre-engineered for multiple curtain wall and storefront systems, these
flexible sunshades offer increased aesthetic choices and more solutions
for maximizing shading and energy saving potential. Versoleil
SunShades’ Outrigger and Single Blade systems are designed to
incorporate easily into any building envelope. Engineering of common
parts and pieces allows for easy fabrication and
installation while a uniform attachment approach allows customers to
quickly gain familiarity with installation practices regardless of
system. To ensure performance criteria were being met, all systems were
subjected to a rigorous testing regimen. The end results are durable,
pre-engineered solutions that allow for efficient integration of
Versoleil SunShades into the building envelope design and can withstand
wind, snow and dead loads.

The new Versoleil Outrigger system is designed for curtain wall
applications. Its standardized design is compatible with the 1600 Wall
System1, 1600UT
System1, 1600 Wall System5, and 1600 SS curtain wall systems. It
includes pre-engineered 90-degree and 135-degree inside and outside
corner options. Available in 30-inch and 36-inch outrigger depths, the
revised mounting bracket design allows for shallow, one-inch deep
curtain wall cover as standard. Optional deep cover is also available.
There are 44 different outrigger and blade combinations available,
including circular, airfoil, arch, planar, flare, wave, infinity,
diamond and square.

The Storefront system features a standardized design compatible with
Trifab VG (VersaGlaze) 451/451T, Trifab 451UT and IR 501UT framing
systems. Available in 30-inch outrigger depths, the Storefront system
has 22 different outrigger and blade combinations available, including
circular, airfoil, arch, planar, flare, wave, infinity, diamond and
square.

The new Versoleil Single Blade system for Storefront features a
standardized design compatible with Trifab VG (VersaGlaze) 451/451T,
Trifab 451UT and IR 501UT framing systems. Available in horizontal
configuration, the modern, aerofoil-shaped blades can be tilted at eight
different angles in five-degree increments ranging from zero to 35
degrees. They are available in various depths from six to 14 inches.

When Versoleil SunShades are strategically placed, they allow for
maximum daylighting while minimizing direct sunlight penetration and
reducing solar heat gain. And, calculating the shading performance of
Versoleil SunShades is easier with Kawneer’s Solector sun-shading
estimator tool. Designed for use early in the design phase, this tool
can compare shading performance of two scenarios using Versoleil
SunShades on a façade.  In addition to increased sun control and energy
savings, Versoleil SunShades can help earn LEED credits in up to three
categories:
Materials and Resources – Recycled Content; Energy and Atmosphere –
Optimize Energy Performance; and Indoor Environmental Quality – Daylight
and Views.

Versoleil SunShades can accommodate a full range of color options.
Architectural Class I anodized aluminum finishes are available in clear
and Permanodic color choices. Painted finishes, including
fluoropolymer, that meet the American Architectural Manufacturers
Association's 2605 standards and solvent-free powder coatings, that
meet AAMA 2604 standards, are available in a variety of color choices.
