Kawneer appoints director of product development

construction, has announced  Robert Holcombe has been appointed
Director, Product Development for North America.

Nov. 4, 2009, Norcross, Ga. – Kawneer Company, Inc., a manufacturer of architectural aluminum building products and systems for commercial construction, has announced  Robert Holcombe has been appointed Director, Product Development for North America.

Reporting to the vice-president of Marketing and Product Development for Kawneer North America, Holcombe will be responsible for the management of product design and the development and deployment of critical new products to market. 
 
As a Kawneer employee for 31 years, Holcombe has held a variety of positions in sales and product management. After joining the company in 1978 as a draftsman, Holcombe ultimately managed the drafting and take-off departments at the Jonesboro, Georgia manufacturing facility before relocating to the Norcross, Georgia corporate headquarters in 1984 as Product Designer. Three years later he joined the sales team, first as the Wall/Window Manager and then the Window Specialist for the Southeast. During that time, Holcombe received two awards for outstanding performance. More than a decade later, Holcombe was selected to head up Kawneer’s newly formed Architectural Services Team. His next role with Kawneer spanned five years as the company’s Window Product Manager, later shifting to his most recent role as Product Development Project Manager. In his new role, Holcombe will work closely with Kawneer customers, the sales and marketing organizations and plant leadership to support the on-time release of new products.
 
Holcombe attended Southern Polytechnic State University and studied architectural engineering. He holds technical certifications from the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) as a Certified Document Technician and a New Product Development Professional certificate from the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA).
