Feb. 18, 2010 – Nebula Glass International, which does business as Glasslam, has filed a formal complaint of anti-competitive and illegal practices with the Federal Trade Commission of the United States. The complaint has been filed against Edgetech IG., the Insulating Glass Certification Council (IGCC), and the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA).

In its complaint, Glasslam claims its foam spacer products were kept out of the market because of  barriers created in the establishment of insulating glass testing and certification requirements and rules.

"Glasslam N.G.I., along with the U.S. and Canadian insulating glass markets have been damaged by the conspiratory and collusive actions of Edgetech IG with members of the IGCC/IGMA/IGMAC, as well as raw material suppliers, trade magazines and industry groups," wrote Stephen Howes, Nebula CEO, at the end of the FTC complaint.

Edgetech I.G. has released the following official statement:

“Glasslam International recently sent Edgetech I.G. a copy of a letter addressed to the Federal Trade Commission in which it alleges that Edgetech, the Insulating Glass Certification Council (IGCC), and the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) collectively undertook several actions aimed at inhibiting Glasslam's spacer product from entering the marketplace. Glasslam's assertions are meritless.  Edgetech is proud of its reputation for integrity and quality and will vigorously defend itself against these false accusations and will take any and all appropriate legal action.”
