Dec. 13, 2010 – Increased efforts toward energy efficiency have created a growth market for insulating glass. With this in mind, C.R. Laurence (CRL) is introducing a new Insulating Glass Manual to help glass professionals expand their knowledge and become more familiar with the materials necessary for insulating glass fabrication.

The 72-page full colour manual is available in print and also online at www.crlaurence.com.

Steve Crawley, CRL’s Insulating Glass Product Manager, explains, “Insulating glass is the single most economical and effective product that glaziers can provide for their customers to save energy and cut their heating and cooling costs.  The GM12 provides easy-to-follow instructions for first time fabricators, as well as those who are experienced and may be considering alternative methods of production. Offering more options than ever before, the manual includes easy step-by-step explanations of all the basic methods of insulating glass production: single-seal, dual-seal, silicone, butyl, and polysulfide. Different glazing techniques are explained, including glazing adapters for retrofit work. Featuring a variety of basic Starter Kits, this manual will show you how to start saving dollars on insulating glass immediately. The manual also describes testing procedures that can be used in a shop, as well insulating glass terms and definitions.”

Crawley concludes, “CRL can help at every step of the insulating glass process, from planning workstations, selecting production methods, supplies and equipment, glazing guidelines, and even assistance in making sales presentations to customers.  As the need for new and retrofit insulating glass units continues to grow, customers will find the GM12 a valuable tool.”
