June 21, 2010 – The Sommer & Maca Machinery Division of C.R. Laurence will introduce the Somaca SM4C Four Cup Wheel Flat and Seam Edger at this September’s GlassBuild Show in Las Vegas.
John A. Czopek, Brand Manager of the Machinery Division, states, “The SM4C is our newest Glass Edger. It is designed to be an affordable machine capable of producing polished flat and seam edgework. Equipped with four cup wheels to grind, seam, and polish glass 1/8” to 1/2” (3-12mm) thick. Conveyor speed is variable from 1.6 fpm to 9.8 fpm (0.5-3.0 mpm). Also included are large glass racks that can each support up to 550 lb. (250kg) of glass. To change settings for different thickness glass takes only seconds, and only requires repositioning the front seam wheel using the dial position indicators mounted on each wheel position. The SM4C operator panel features push button stop/start controls and ammeters for each motor.”
Czopek concludes, “Our SM4C is an excellent first purchase, cost effective flat and seam edging machine. It adjusts easily, and quickly produces a nicely polished piece of glass. For anyone needing a high polish finish on the flat edge, our SM5C Edger adds an additional cerium polish wheel. The SM5C is slightly larger than the SM4C, but is also very affordable.
