TransCanada sponsors the 2017 Skills Canada National Competition

Mar. 9, 2017 -  Skills/Compétences Canada (SCC), a not-for-profit organization that actively promotes careers in skilled trades and technologies, is proud to announce that TransCanada Corporation has returned for the third year as a Presenting Sponsor of the 2017 Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC).
Through the generous support of its Presenting Sponsors, SCC is able to promote skilled trade and technology career opportunities at SCNC.

From May 31 to June 3, 2017, representatives from industry, government, and labour, along with educators and youth will gather in Winnipeg for SCNC. Over 550 secondary and post-secondary students will compete for medal placement in more than 40 skilled trade and technology contests in six sectors, including: welding, landscape gardening, carpentry, mobile robotics, heavy equipment technician, aerospace technology, graphic design and hairstyling among many more. One important initiative at SCNC is over 50 interactive Try-A-Trade® and Technology activities that will give over 7,500 visiting students informative choices about the variety of career options available to them.

SCNC attracts young career-seekers, employers, educators, and industry associations, and helps showcase the various opportunities available in the skilled trade and technology sectors. The competition tests young frontrunners against exacting industry standards configured by National Technical Committees that are comprised of industry and educational experts.
