Crystal Achievement Awards were instituted by the National Glass Association’s (NGA’s) Glass Magazine to recognize significant innovations and achievements in the commercial, retail, and fabrication markets within the glass industry.

CRL’s Dry Glaze TAPER-LOC System won 1st place in the Most Innovative Commercial Hardware Product category.  Intended for residential and commercial tempered glass railing and windscreen applications, the CRL Dry Glaze TAPER-LOC System is a proprietary glass installation system that reduces installation time by 50%.

This system is unique to the industry because it uses a horizontal taper lock design, rather than a vertical wedge system. The Dry Glaze TAPER-LOC System self-centers the glass panels in the base shoe pocket.  The system supports all mounting methods, including surface mount, embed mount, and fascia.

CRL’s Hand Rails Online won 1st Place in the Most Innovative Industry-Specific Software category. Hand Rails Online is a web-based design program for material sizing. Tailored to professionals working with handrails, guard rails, glass balustrades, stair rails, and windscreens, the program allows professionals to design and lay out almost any configuration in minutes.  The program generates railing layouts, parts lists, material cut sizes, hardware needs, and quote sheets.   It also displays and prints detailed information, such as post spacing, railing heights, and bottom rail clearances.

The Crystal Achievement Awards were selected by a panel of judges, representing all segments of the glass industry.  Winners were featured in the September 29th edition of e-glass weekly, the October issue of Glass Magazine, and on www.GlassMagazine.com

Nicole Harris, publisher of Glass Magazine, said, “As the glass industry continues to evolve, so does the Crystal Achievement Awards program.  The 2009 winners reflect the creativity and vision necessary to meet the increasingly sophisticated demands of the marketplace.”

Jenni Chase, editor, Glass Magazine, remarked, “The number and quality of entries are a testament to our industry’s commitment to innovation, even amidst challenging market conditions.”
