Sept. 8, 2010 –  Walker Glass will feature the usage of acid-etched glass in exterior applications his year at the GlassBuild show in Las Vegas.

Walker Glass says that, contrary to popular belief, acid-etched glass is not only suitable for interiors but can be readily used in exterior applications as well. This versatile semi-transparent substrate is suited to reducing glare, diffusing light, providing privacy while maximising daylighting and much more. Combined with any low-e substrate in an insulating glass unit, acid-etched glass creates a brilliant and stunning energy-efficient glazing alternative. The etched surface can be used on
any of the four surfaces of an insulating glass unit, each providing a different and unique visual effect.

Because acid-etching is not a coating, its resistance properties in exterior conditions are essentially equivalent to unetched glass. Ross Christie, VP Sales & Marketing, says: "It is exciting to see, in the last year or two, more acid-etched glass being specified in projects for exterior applications. A better understanding of the possibilities is important, and that is why we are focusing more efforts to help our clients and the architects.”

Using North American glass substrates the Walker Textures products are available in a wide range of thicknesses varying from 3 mm to 19 mm on glass and 3 mm to 6 mm on mirror, in sizes up to 100”x144”. Some products are offered in quantities less than 4,000 pounds. For more information, please visit www.walkerglass.com.

In 2002, Walker Glass launched a full surface acid-etched glass and mirror product line under the Walker Textures brand name. Since then, the company has added a line of custom and stock patterns called Walker Textures Nuance.
