Nov. 6, 2009 – Choosing the most energy efficient glazing design for a commercial building can be difficult – especially when trying to strike the perfect balance between energy efficiency, aesthetics, comfort and cost.

Now, a free new web tool from Viracon is making it easier for architects and building owners to get performance information on annual energy usage, peak demand, carbon emissions, daylight, glare and occupant comfort.

The new tool was created in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy, Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory and the University of Minnesota Center for Sustainable Building Research.

See how The Viracon Product Selection works at the Viracon Booth 2465 at GreenBuild Expo. Boothside briefings with Paul LaBerge, Green Building Manager at Apogee and one of the creators of the tool, can be arranged from 10:30 – noon on Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Viracon Booth. LaBerge will also present the tool at a presentation called “Daylighting, Transparency, and Building Envelope Design”  at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 11.

You can access the tool online at www.viracon.com/
