JELD-WEN is U.S. ENERGY STAR Partner of Year

Mar. 3, 2010 – The U.S. Environmental ProtectionAgency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy has named JELD-WEN Windows and Doors a 2010 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, manufacturing energy-efficient products and educating consumers about the benefits of energy efficiency. JELD-WEN Canada received the ENERGY STAR Participant of the Year award from Natural Resources in May 2009. This is the first time a manufacturer has been recognized by ENERGY STAR in Canada and the U.S. concurrently.

U.S. Department of Energy has named JELD-WEN Windows and Doors a 2010
ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year for reducing greenhouse gas emissions,
manufacturing energy-efficient products and educating consumers about
the benefits of energy efficiency. JELD-WEN Canada received the ENERGY
STAR Participant of the Year award from Natural Resources in May 2009.
This is the first time a manufacturer has been recognized by ENERGY STAR
in Canada and the U.S. concurrently.

“Achieving this level of recognition and validation in two countries underscores the stringent commitment JELD-WEN has made regarding greener manufacturing, distribution and product selection,” says Sante Cigana, Canadian Vice President of JELD-WEN Windows and Doors. “Our products had to adhere to rigorous performance standards set by the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC), an independent third party.”

Manufacturers vying for the award were judged in several areas including the number of qualified products produced and sold, promotion of the advantages of the program, and overall commitment to energy savings.

* JELD-WEN produces more ENERGY STAR qualified window and door configurations than any other manufacturer according to information available in the NFRC database.

* JELD-WEN actively promotes the benefits of energy efficiency through literature, website, advertising and innovative consumer outreach programs.

* JELD-WEN has also shown leadership and innovation by reducing energy consumption in its facilities, procedures and logistics. Overall, JELD-WEN has committed to purchase more than 200,000 kilowatt hours of renewable energy per month.
