Your Pane is Their Pain: Crash Course on Mitigating Bird/Building Collisions:
This presentation looks into the issue of bird collisions in the built environment and the various species being affected by this leading cause of bird death. This presentation identifies ineffective bird deterrent products and techniques, while offers best methods and services proven to help mitigate this threat. Interesting science into how birds perceive and interact with glass will be discussed.

Michael Mesure is president of Fatal Light Awareness Program (FLAP) Canada, an organization dedicated to protecting bird populations from threats from our built environment. FLAP rescues hundreds of injured birds around the Toronto area each year and documents thousands more fatal collisions. It works with community and industry groups to raise awareness and publicize best practices for reducing bird/building collisions.
