Nov. 5, 2009, Greenbelt, Md. – The National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) is organizing special webinars this fall to address recent developments in its Component Modeling Approach (CMA) program.

The CMA program uses performance data from the three primary components of a fenestration product (frame, spacer, glazing) to generate an overall energy performance rating for a non-residential product. CMA is currently in a pilot phase, and it is expected to be fully implemented in January 2010.

The free "CMA Pilot Project Update" webinars are scheduled for:

  • Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. EST
  • Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. EST

Each webinar will cover recent developments in the CMA Pilot Program with respect to the CMA Software Tool (CMAST) and the CMA Product Certification Program. The program includes updates on:

  • The latest version of CMAST.
  • Certification program activities underway.
  • NFRC outreach activities in the state of California.

The webinars also provide a venue for participants to ask questions and seek clarifications on CMA-related topics. To learn more about the webinars, or to register, please visit http://nfrc.org/CMA-Training-Page.aspx.

The sessions will be recorded and posted to the NFRC Web site for those who will be unavailable to participate on November 11 or December 9.

NFRC is offering other CMA education opportunities, too. On Dec. 3, 2009, and on Jan. 28, 2010, NFRC will present an educational webinar targeted towards building officials and energy consultants in California that will cover the topic of the CMA provision in California's Title 24 standards, conducted by the Heschong Mahone Group.
