Stamina and determination – Becky McLaughlin, Desa Glass

I’d like to nominate Ms. Rebecca (Becky) McLaughlin. Becky started in the accounting department of Desa Glass over 20 years ago, straight out of school.

She has worked her way to CFO and knows as much about the commercial glazing industry as any Red Seal journeyman we have.

Twenty years ago, Desa was small enough that she was the go-to person for any HR or payroll issues. We’re now one of the largest commercial glazing contractors in Alberta, operating out of a new 70,000 square-foot facility but her door is still open to all employees, whether it’s personal advice or work issues.

In July 2020, Becky had her first baby, twins in fact, and has been working from home since then. She still is Desa’s accounting department working more than eight hours a day and constantly on call to the office. Her stamina, determination and dedication to the industry are second to none. I’ve worked with many large companies around the globe the past 40 years in the glazing industry and have yet to meet anyone in her league.
