July 9, 2009 – Kawneer Company, Inc., announced the launch of its pre-glazed 1600 SS Unitwall designed to further address the challenges of today’s fast paced, budget-conscientious construction schedules. As a part of Kawneer’s range of unitized solutions, 1600 SS Unitwall is offered in both stock lengths and fabricated for pre-glazing so that glazing contractors can benefit from the flexibility of providing fabrication and glazing under controlled conditions in their own shop.

As budgets continue to tighten and construction schedules become more stringent, the demand for high quality products that are quick to install and simple to fabricate has increased. Kawneer’s 1600 SS Unitwall is a pre-glazed, screw spline solution engineered to answer those demands and more. Designed for low to mid-rise projects, rapid installation makes 1600 SS Unitwall ideal for new or remodel projects where high performance is desired.

A split mullion design, implementing screw spline joinery, allows glazing contractors to preassemble and glaze panels in the controlled conditions of their own shop – minimizing the installation time and effort required in the field. An expansion horizontal allows fully pre-glazed units (less pressure plates and covers) to be stacked on top of each other for a true unitized curtain wall option.

In addition, 1600 SS Unitwall is available in a vertical SSG version and a fully captured version, which is dry glazed and eliminates the use of silicone. A rain screen pressure equalization (RSPE) option is also available. The system can accommodate different color options for the exterior and interior with anodized and fluoropolymer painted finishes in a variety of colours. Solvent-free powder coatings can also be used to enhance the systems’ sustainability with high performance, durability and scratch resistance that meet the standards of the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) 2604.
