Restoration of architectural glass to be explored at Glass Connections in Burnaby

May 1, 2017  By Canadian Glass Association

Glass Connections, the Canadian Glass Association’s annual education and networking event, will feature an examination of restoration best practices for windows and curtainwall. The event takes place June 7 and 8 in Burnaby, B.C.

Peter Poirier of Tremco Commercial Sealants and Waterproofing will present Glazing Restorations. Window and curtain wall systems have evolved over the years, especially with respect to weather control performance. Each has its own unique challenges and is designed to respond to different performance requirements when controlling the passage of air and water. The design of appropriate restoration solutions will be explored – from today’s typical curtain wall system to the demands of restoring weather-resistance to the hand-crafted, ornate design of a historic landmark.

This seminar will discuss:

1. Considerations in the design of effective restoration solutions for today’s aging buildings.

2. Restoring the integrity of aging buildings without the disruption and cost of total window
and/or wall replacement.

3. Emerging technologies with tested, documented performance for the control of air and
moisture infiltration – with added thermal performance – at the window-wall interface.
