Feb. 25, 2010 – Pilkington is expanding its architectural line of energy efficient solar control Low-E products. The Pilkington Solar-E coating is now available on a palette of natural colors – Arctic Blue, Blue-Green and Grey, to complement Pilkington Solar-E on clear and the company’s other lines of pyrolytic Low-E products.
The company says that Pilkington Solar-E balances natural light, energy conservation, and sustainability, and Solar-E can help buildings achieve LEED or Green Certification and assist with favorable Life Cycle Assessments.
The Pilkington Solar-E family provides a unique combination of aesthetics and performance values with the same benefits of the on-line hard coat technology. Pilkington Solar-E can be bent, insulated, laminated, tempered, and edge deletion is not required. It has an unlimited shelf life, so it can be used today or six months or more from now. It can also have a ceramic or frit applied to the coated surface for spandrels or a silk screen pattern can be applied for the vision lites. It will not oxidize or change color over time. No special certified fabricator programs are required because it handles and fabricates like float glass.
