Vinyl siding controversy
Delegates at the recent Glass Association of North America fall conference in Toronto viewed a video produced by the U.S. vinyl siding institute addressing recent complaints of vinyl siding melting. The video points the finger squarely at low-E glass, essentially claiming that the increased heat reflection from low-E is to blame for the problem. GANA delegates said the video's claims oversimplified the problem and the association plans its own educational presentation on the matter.

Ontario Power Authority updates saveONenergy's retrofit program
The Ontario Power Authority (OPA) has announced updates to the saveONenergy RETROFIT PROGRAM that provide additional financial incentives for Ontario businesses to reduce energy used by lighting, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, refrigeration systems and building plug loads.

CCOHS releases new WHMIS e-course
The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is changing as Canadians prepare to align with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). To help educate workers about the upcoming changes, the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) has released a new e-course, in partnership with the Workplace Hazardous Materials Bureau of Health Canada (formerly the National Office of WHMIS) and funded by Health Canada.
