OCOT Ontario College of Trades leaves apprenticeship ratios unchanged
Saying the present apprenticeship system "works well," the Ontario College of Trades has left the apprentice-to-journeyperson ratio for the Architectural Glass and Metal Technician trade unchanged in its ratio review decision made Feb. 19. The ratio in Ontario remains at one apprentice allowed for the first journeyperson employed, then one additional apprentice for every two journeypersons employed thereafter. OCOT regulations regarding apprenticeships come into force April 8.

Cody Cody named CEO of Grey Mountain’s glass businesses
Grey Mountain Partners has announced that Paul Cody has been named president and CEO of Consolidated Glass Holdings. Cody brings with him a 30-year track record of successfully managing and growing businesses. Cody was most recently senior vice-president and general manager of the Power Distribution division, a business of the Electrical Sector of Eaton Corporation.

Carruthers retires from Zeidler
After a long career with Zeidler Partnership Architects, managing partner and architect Stephen Carruthers has announced his retirement. Michael Cojocar and Martin Veenhoven will lead the Calgary studio, both principals with over 25 years of experience, who bring global insight, integrity and innovation to the architectural profession.

CSC CSC No Frills Trade Show “a success”
Based on previous years and on comments from attendees and exhibitors, the CSC Toronto Chapter’s No Frills Trade Show held March 4, was a success. With over 200 exhibitors, and modified floor layout, the show aisles were packed with attendees and the show resembled the trade shows of the past. The luncheon was well attended, with the topic being transit infrastructure. Ideas are already pouring in for topics for next year's luncheon, sparked from the last few years' topics which have conveyed, Toronto and the construction industry.
