July 20, 2015 – The Ontario Glass and Metal Association has joined Prompt Payment Ontario, a small business lobby group advocating for provincial legislation governing payment terms for construction contractors. The OGMA board asked for an received permission from its members to put up the $10,000 membership fee to join the group. Now that the OGMA is a member of the group, members have an opportunity to fill out a survey detailing the damages their businesses have experienced as a result of delinquent payments. Thanks to your support and the unanimous approval of those who replied to our previous surveys, the OGMA has joined Prompt Payment Ontario to add our voice to the movement to have payment terms incorporated into law.
Prompt Payment Ontario is doing a survey of the multi-employer benefit plans to quantify the damages stemming from delinquent payments. Below is a link to the online survey that is being administered by Prism Economics and Analysis. All of the replies will be collected by Prism Economics and will be confidential; only aggregated results will be made public.
t is important to understand the cost of delinquent payments and how Prompt Payment Legislation can be a positive force in reducing costs and preventing subsequent loss of benefits to workers.
We are asking OGMA members involved in benefit/pension plans who completed the PPO survey to provide us with the contact information for the individual who completed the survey and the name of the benefit plan. Please click here to download and complete our questionnaire and return it to Sandra Skivsky, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Canada Masonry Centre by email at sskivsky@canadamasonrycentre.com.
The questionnaire needs to be completed by July 24, 2015, in order to have the results analyzed and compiled for our submission to the committee conducting the review of the Construction Lien Act.
