Jim Brady, general manager of Desa Glass in Calgary, Alta., has announced he is leaving the company. Brady is familiar to many in the industry across the country due to his intense involvement in several associations, including his recent terms as president of the Canadian Glass Association. Brady issued the following statment in an email to industry contacts:
“To all of my friends and colleagues in the glazing industry. I’m sure by now you have heard that I am leaving my position at Desa Glass.
“I must tell you that I am not leaving on bad terms and there is no animosity between myself and Desa. I am in good health (outside of needing to lose some weight :)).
“Desa Glass has afforded me the opportunity to excel in estimating, drafting, project management, product design, human resources and industry volunteerism. Because of Desa I was able to sit on the Executive of GAMA, PGAA and the CGA. I also served on the Glazier LAC for 9 years and on the Glazier PAC for 10 years. I personally feel that giving back to your industry is important. Feed the industry that feeds you. Most employers would allow a little latitude on that, Desa went above and beyond the norm and was instrumental in allowing me to serve on all of those Boards, (probably more than I should have).
“To my partners, thank you for allowing me to be all that I could be and for the great ride!
“To my co-workers that I leave behind, you have been a source of great joy for me and I loved being a part of your growth. You are valued assets of a great organization!
“To my customers, I wish to thank you for all of our business dealings and pushing me to the best of my abilities. You are in good hands with the people of Desa Glass.
“To my suppliers, thank you so much for partnering with me and Desa, helping us to achieve our deadlines, and when things didn’t go as planned, you helped us to get it right!
“I will be taking some personal time for a few months and I will wait to see what God has in store for me for the next chapter in my life. I am sure you will see me back in the industry in some capacity in the future.”
