MikronWood provides the beauty of natural wood, yet is made with recyclable vinyl composite material, offering significantly increased energy efficiency and virtually no maintenance. Interior wood veneer options in multiple species are also available.

MikronWood is more energy efficient than natural wood and fiberglass, offering an improved thermal value 63 percent better than Pine and 78 percent better than fiberglass. MikronWood is moisture- and humidity-proof increasing the product’s overall life cycle. The material is also impervious to rot and insects.

“MikronWood can dramatically increase energy efficiency and durability over its lifetime, without requiring our OEM customers to invest in costly new fabrication equipment,” said Saul Schnurman, vice-president of sales, Quanex Building Products. “MikronWood joints can be thermally welded, providing more weather resistance than mechanically fastened wood and fiberglass joints, resulting in less failures and call-backs.”

MikronWood’s superior durability also offers lower risk of damaged products during delivery and installation.

MikronWood offers an innovative SuperCapSR exterior color process. This technology reflects 76 percent of infrared light, reducing solar heat gain to prevent any heat-related frame distortion. The tough, molecularly fused acrylic color layer is 12 times harder than competitive applied paint coatings, making it a highly scratch-resistant and permanent color layer.

MikronWood windows and patio doors are available at 4-9/16-inch new construction frame depths. Numerous window configurations are also available in 3-1/4-inch block frame depths for ideal replacement applications. MikronWood is also an ideal long life alternative to wood exterior door frame jambs and trim.
