Oct. 4, 2011 – Traco has introduced the Optiq Ultra thermal window as a
result of a partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy. Built-in
thermal intelligence allows it to reach a high level of thermal
performance while maintaining strong structural performance. Optiq
Windows are available in multiple configurations offering versatility
and options for customization, and are suitable for new or retrofit
commercial construction.

As energy codes continue to become
increasingly stringent, high performing building products are a
requirement. With assistance from the U.S. Department of Energy, Traco
improved its product design and manufacturing processes, which has
enabled more efficient production of the AA 4325 series, thereby
assisting in the development of a window with excellent thermal
performance.

A polyamide thermal break allows the AA 4325
series to achieve higher thermal performance than the traditional pour-and-debridged style thermal break. Performance is further
enhanced by accommodating one-inch and 1 3/4-inch triple insulating glass.
The alignment of the insulating glass unit with the thermal break
allows the window to maintain thermal continuity. Reduced sightlines
also decreases thermal conductivity and transfer, while wider thermal
break profiles allow for increased space between interior and exterior
metal. Thermal transmission is further reduced by a unique center fin
gasket design, the use of insulating foam strips and the ability to
accommodate 1 3/4-inch triple glazing. The window also achieves
outstanding condensation resistance, making it suitable for such applications as hospitals and schools where condensation and mold are significant
concerns.

Using commercially available triple insulating glass,
the AA 4325 series has the potential to achieve U-factors of 0.17 for fixed
and 0.22 for operable while still achieving a structural design pressure
of 80 PSF. With an exceptional combination of thermal and structural
performance, Traco’s Optiq Ultra thermal windows are positioned to meet
the market demand for high performance commercial windows that offer
enhanced energy efficiency. Superior thermal efficiency also makes the
window ideal for buildings seeking LEED certification with the U.S. Green Building
Council.

The AA 4325
series meets or exceeds the minimum requirements for Architectural
Window (AW) performance class including life cycle testing. A variety of
removable interior stops accommodate multiple infill thicknesses with
no disassembly required for re-glazing. Additionally, the factory-fabricated and glazed window includes durable hardware and options for
access panels with blinds as well as insect screens. And, unlike other
high performing commercial windows, Optiq Ultra thermal windows are made from aluminum, which not only
allows for unlimited finish options, installation flexibility and
such sustainable benefits as high recycled content, but the window will
never rot, warp, or buckle due to moisture and weather exposure.

The
AA 4325 series window features a 3 1/4-inch depth frame and its minimal
sightlines deliver superior aesthetics. A dual colour option provides
the flexibility to vary interior and exterior finishes, enabling a
reduction in overall system cost. Thermal options can be added or
removed based on performance and cost requirements. The AA 4325 series
is available in several configurations including fixed, projecting, and
casement.
