July 10, 2012 – Gray Tools , a Canadian manufacturer of
industrial-quality hand tools, launched the Gray Tools Canada Highest
Standard Achievement Award and recognized Brampton, Ont.-based Judith
Nyman Secondary School
student John Dawe for excellence at the school’s
commencement event.

“We think it’s important to engage with the next generation of
tradespeople,” says Gary Nuttall, president of Gray Tools. “As part of our
100th anniversary celebrations, we wanted to give back to the community
and help future generations. We created the Gray Tools Canada Highest
Standard Achievement Award to recognize a student’s overall excellence
in a vocational program. We are delighted to launch the inaugural award at Judith Nyman secondary
school, one of the largest vocational schools in Ontario and part of
the community in which we work.”

The award for Dawe, a grade 12 student who is graduating at the end of
the year, came in the form of a Master Tool set valued at $3,000 to help
him as he works towards a career. This includes top and bottom tool
boxes, socket and wrench sets, screwdrivers, pliers, hex key sets, punch
and chisels, among other tools.

“This is a really significant contribution to John and his goal of
becoming a mechanic – a profession where companies expect people to bring
their own tools,” says Judith Nyman principal, John Colton. “Gray Tools
has given a great head start to a student who really grew in his skill
and learning, and followed it with a very successful co-op placement at a
local motorcycle shop. It’s so rewarding to watch when a student’s
skill and aptitude meshes with their passion, as it did with John
and his interest in mechanics.”

Judith Nyman Secondary School in Brampton is a workplace destination
school that offers a strong school-to-work program that includes
hands-on, technical skills training in a number of trades.

Gray Tools Canada is located in Brampton and currently offers more
than 6,000 industrial product solutions and operates two warehouses in
Canada.
