IGMA’s IG Fabricators Workshop sessions are filling up!

Oct. 3, 2018 – Registration for IGMA’s IG Fabricator Workshop has been strong and each of our two planned sessions during the week are beginning to fill up.

The workshop is held at Intertek in Plano, TX and leads attendees through the most important aspects of design, fabrication, failures and durability testing of IG units by renown experts of the fenestration industry. Features include hands-on exercises of best practices for cleaning, cutting and handling glass, desiccants, sealants, gas fill, frost point and much more. Due to high demand at past workshops, IGMA has scheduled two back-to-back sessions to give industry the opportunity to send multiple employees. Attendees are provided the chance to discuss all things fenestration with the instructors at Free Play Richardson, an 80’s arcade bar featuring more than 100 vintage video games and pinball machines, 120+ craft beers, food and more. The next Workshop will be held at the Intertek-ATI Testing lab in Plano, Texas from November 5-9th. The first session runs November 5-7th, while the second runs November 7-9th. Register now before the class fills up to attend and get immediate impact to your company’s bottom line. Modules include:

Workstation 1: Frost Testing
Participants will be instructed in how to take a frost point and have the opportunity to take a frost point on an IGU.

Station 2: Volatile Fog
How to visually inspect for volatile fog.

Station 3: Gas Filling and Measurement
How to correctly use the GasGlass device plus introducing the iTig sensor for measurement of gas and humidity.

Station 4: Sealant Adhesion Test
How to safely break glass to conduct the test and proper gunning of PIB.

Station 5: Sealant Mix Test / Desiccant
How to properly mix and gun sealants safely.

Station 6: Glass Cutting & Washing
Demonstration of score quality, covering cutting wheel wear, cutting wheel angle and cutting wheel pressure, methods for testing desiccant drying capacity.

Station 7: Spacer and IG Fabrication
Looking at various spacers including well fabricated samples and samples with deliberate manufacturing issues.

Station 8: Forensic Investigations of Failures
Hands-on tool kit to determine failure modes starting from the basic visual inspection to destructive analysis of the unit.
