GlassCon Global unveils 2014 conference program

June 30, 2014 – GlassCon Global has unveiled its 2014 conference program on its website,www.glassconglobal.com. The program features more than 90 presentations and will provide 15 AIA CES credits to AIA members.

June 30, 2014 – GlassCon Global has unveiled its 2014 conference program
on its website, www.glassconglobal.com. The program features more than
90 presentations and will provide 15 AIA CES credits to AIA members. The conference is set to launch at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from July 7-10. Aimed at driving innovation in glass technology, GlassCon Global is bringing together all facets of the architectural glass and glazing industry for two-and-a-half days of technical presentations, networking and collaborating.

The architectural glass and glazing industries have come a long way over the last 50 years and, more importantly, the last 15 years,” said Ed Zaucha, CEO of APG International and President of GlassCon Global. “Many of our advancements have developed because industry leaders connected, put their minds together and developed new strategies, technologies and techniques. Many of the latest technologies have been developed in Europe and are virtually unknown in North America. The GlassCon Global conference is being conducted to disseminate new technologies, advancements, and to help develop tomorrow’s innovations today.”
 
The presentations will be delivered over the course of two-and-a-half days and will be separated into several tracks: Cooperative Research, Architectural Glass and Metal Case Studies, Recent Trends in Insulating Glass, Young Research, Glass Coatings, Energy Performance of Buildings Influenced by Glass, Engineering with Structural Glass, Laminated Glass and Adhesives, Safety of Glass, Design with Curved Glass, Glass Testing, Specialties in Structural Glass, Façade Performance and Trends and Designing with Glass. In addition to these presentations, the conference offers plenty of networking opportunities for the leaders of the architectural glass and glazing industries. GlassCon Global attendees will have the opportunity to network at the Kimmel Center, the Constitution Center and the Academy of Natural Sciences during the evenings.
 
GlassCon will also feature several plenary sessions and open-discussion panels. The Transatlantic Debate is a panel being moderated by Nick Beaumont, editor of Intelligent Glass Solutions. Panelists Keith Boswell (SOM Architects), Charles Blomberg (Rafael Viñoly Architects), Graham Dodd (Arup), Werner Jager (ai3) and James O’Callaghan (Eckersley O’Callaghan) will discuss standards, products, design aesthetics and more. During theArchitect’s Dream List, panelists Christoph Tim (SOM Architects), Winfried Heusler (Schüco International KG), Michel Micho (Enclos), and Graham Dodd (Arup) will discuss design ideas and innovations that would advance the glass industry.
 
The conference will conclude with two panels: the Façade Consultants Panel and GlassCon Impressions, which will be moderated by Ellen Rogers, the editor of U.S. Glass Magazine. Panelists Gordon Smith (Gordon H. Smith Corporation), Robert Heintges (Heintges & Associates) and Richard Green (Front, Inc.) will provide their collective insight on a wide range of topics regarding the façades of the present and future. The final panel of GlassCon Global, GlassCon Impressions, will feature Cheryl Smith (Cope Linder Architects), James Carpenter (James Carpenter Design Associates), Charles Bloomberg (Rafael Viñoly Architects), Doug Carney (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia) and Jeff Haber (W&W Glass). The panelists will discuss the information and innovation presented during GlassCon, and how it can help drive innovation in glass technology.
