NRCan proposes adding embodied carbon to NBC and NEC

The Canadian Board for Harmonized Construction Codes has released a set of draft proposals that would see future editions of the National Building Code and the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings include requirements limiting the greenhouse gases emitted by providing power and heat to the building, and limiting the greenhouse gases emitted as a matter of embodied carbon in the manufacture, transportation, maintenance and disposal of its building materials.

Integro files for bankruptcy

Integro Building Systems filed for bankruptcy on Aug. 31. It's assets are in the hands of a trustee and a preliminary report has been issued listing creditors. According to the notice to creditors, Integro went out of business owing over $45 million in excess of assets.


Rich Walker passes

The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) regrets to announce the passing of Rich Walker, 74, former President and CEO of the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) and an industry figure of momentous proportions. Walker retired from the Association in 2018 prior to its unification with the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) to form FGIA.


Larry Harding passes at 93

The Ontario Glass and Metal Association has shared the news that Larry Harding, founder of Harding Glass and Mirror, passed away peacefully on Aug. 10 at the age of 93. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Frances, and leaves three children and six grandchildren. Harding was the proud owner of Harding Glass & Mirror since 1981.
