Dow Corning adds new liquid flashing solution to lineup

April 24, 2015  By Dow Corning

April 24, 2015 – With the complexity of modern window and door penetrations and transitions – which include any variety of substrates, barriers and sheathing – builders are challenged to ensure a continuous, weather-tight seal. To simplify installation and provide the assurance of 100% silicone performance, Dow Corning has added a new liquid flashing to the Dow Corning Silicone Air Barrier System.

Featuring extended tooling time, primerless adhesion to cut sheathing edges, and rugged cured properties, Dow Corning 778 Silicone Liquid Flashing is an ideal choice for sealing window, door and other challenging through-wall transitions. The new liquid flashing delivers performance superior to other flashing methods, mitigating the challenges associated with embedded mesh and folding of sheet flashings. Its primerless formulation both simplifies installation and saves time otherwise wasted waiting for primers to cure.

“The Dow Corning Silicone Air Barrier System was developed to bring trusted silicone solutions to common challenges in building construction,” said Dow Corning Americas Marketer Jim Stange. “With the addition of Dow Corning 778 Silicone Liquid Flashing, contractors have a complete, compatible silicone system that’s easy to apply and backed by Dow Corning support.

“Additionally, Dow Corning 778 Silicone Liquid Flashing – like the other components of the Dow Corning Silicone Air Barrier System – can be used either as part of the system or as a stand-alone solution with other common building materials.”
