June 1, 2018 - According to many industry representatives, the glass industry and construction markets are anticipating continued growth throughout 2018. This growth makes it even more vital for companies to keep up with new trends and technologies coming down the line and to adapt to market conditions. For more than 15 years, industry professionals have been attending GlassBuild America: The Glass, Window & Door Expo to achieve just that.
May 17, 2018 - It’s safe to say that Glass Day, presented by Burnaby B.C.’s Garibaldi Glass, is the most successful and informative educational fenestration event in western Canada and beyond. It’s a bold statement. The Mobius brothers (introductions not required, everyone knows them) and their team welcomed over 400 glazing contractors, architects, designers and glass professionals from across Canada, the US and even Europe to this year’s event. Attendees were treated to a fabulous Cinco De Mayo lunch complete with icy cold Coronas in between plant tours, networking and a variety of rotating AIA/AIBC accredited seminars that were being held in Garibaldi’s top notch conference rooms, training room and full size theatre.
It was a great day of spirited conversations among all levels of the Canadian architectural glass industry at Top Glass on April 17 in Mississauga, Ont. Despite the truly unbelievable bad weather in southern Ontario, 315 attendees managed to get to the International Centre, tour 61 exhibitors and sit in four cutting-edge educational sessions. Attendees were about evenly split between architects/specifiers and glazing contractors.

If everything always stayed the same there would be no need to come out to trade shows. Instead, we are inundated with change. Tightening energy efficiency standards are entering the market unevenly across the country, challenging contractors and fabricators to maintain esthetics and margins as designs adjust.
Feb. 22, 2018 - Dr. Chuck Black of the U.S. Brookhaven National Laboratory will discuss his groundbreaking method for etching glass at molecular scales to make surfaces non-reflective, water-repellent and condensation-resistant. It’s science fiction that is entering the real world. Join us at Top Glass April 17 at the International Centre in Mississauga.
Thin glass – as thin as a razor blade or a human hair – has new applications in protecting smartphone touchscreens, sensitive filters and sensors. Yet despite its extreme thinness, recent advances have rendered it also highly resilient and scratch-proof. The flexibility and bending properties of the new thin-glass products may permit totally new applications in architecture, mobility and other industries.
