On October 10 the CGA hosted the Glass Connections Show in Calgary. A good crowd of 82 people registered to hear five very informative guest speakers.
Nov. 7, 2013 - The Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance has released details of its upcoming 2014 Winter Conference. The conference will take place March 3 to 7, 2014, in San Francisco, Calif. The opening activity is a night tour of Alcatraz. The Emerging Technology and Innovation Committee will meet at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory on March 4, and the remainder the meetings are at the J.W. Marriott Union Square. The Technical Committee will meet on March 5, Certification and Education on the sixth until noon and then education sessions will take place starting in the afternoon through Friday, March 7.
The CGA has adopted an accelerated schedule of monthly board meetings for the first Tuesday of every month at 1:00 p.m.
Today’s Canadian window and door manufacturing industry continues to move through an important developmental period and it is fortunate in being served by a revitalized leadership group and organization.
Sept. 17, 2013 - About 50 door pre-hangers and suppliers took in Fenestration Canada's seminar on NAFS-08 compliance in the Ontario Building Code at the Hilton in London, Ont., Sept. 12. The sold-out room was brought up to date on the new rules coming into effect Jan. 1 by Fenestration Canada technical consultant, Jeff Baker, J.F. Kogovsek of Maxam Marketing and a panel consisting of Haya Soghrati of Can-Best, Claudio Sacilotto of Intertek and Jennifer Wren-McDonald of Exova.
Sept. 3, 2013 – Once again, Carrying Place Golf and Country Club will be hosting OGMA's Fall Golf Tournament. The club’s address is 16750 Weston Road, Kettleby, Ont. Built in 1958, Carrying Place is a friendly and challenging golf course, featuring 125 acres of gently rolling terrain, mature trees, manicured greens and over 11 acres of water hazards. This magnificent golf course is truly unique.
August 28, 2013 - Significant changes to the Ontario Building Code and NAFS-08 are scheduled to be implemented on Jan. 1, 2014. All companies including window and door fabricators, sellers and renovators will be affected. 
Fenestration Canada, in collaboration with major door supplier members, has scheduled a series of information seminars designed to update door pre-hangers on building code compliance, testing requirements and provide a general interpretation on the Ontario Building Code and NAFS-08.
Aug. 27, 2013 – The American Architectural Manufacturers Association will host an online contest on both Twitter and LinkedIn running two days: August 28 and Sept. 4 at 2:30 p.m. Eastern. The contest will feature quiz questions from AAMA’s FenestrationMasters program, the association's program for comprehensive professional education and certification.
There is a growing perception that a fundamental group of window and door fabricator owners is underrepresented at industry events, meetings and discussion forums.
The Canadian Glass Association held its Annual General Meeting on June 27 via webinar.
July 25, 2013 - The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) celebrated 13 consecutive years of furthering the careers and education of students pursuing a degree related to the building products industry by awarding seven scholarships to children of employees of AAMA member companies. The scholarship award winners were announced during the 2013 AAMA Summer Conference, held June 9-12, in Rosemont, Ill. Dominic Nickel of Abbotsford, B.C., was one of the winners.
July 22, 2013 - The American Architectural Manufacturers Association released education courses on curtain wall design, aluminum storefronts and entrances, as well as energy and the architectural fenestration industry, as part of the association’s FenestrationMasters program. This is the sixth group of FenestrationMasters courses released by AAMA.
July 2, 2013 – Registration for the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance 2013 Summer Conference is now open on the IGMA website. The program will focus on insulating glass quality and testing. The conference is scheduled for August 7th to 10th, 2013, at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel and Resort. IGMA events feature the top minds from the IG industry with many networking opportunities at interesting events such as the Strolling Culinary Tour and Tall Ship Dinner Cruise.
June 20, 2013 - The Ontario Glass and Metal Association gave its Lifetime Achievement Award to Ray Wakefield, technical services manager for Trulite, at its spring golf tournament on May 30. The award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the Ontario glazing industry.
June 17, 2013 - Fenestration Manitoba held its first-ever Annual General Meeting June 11. It was a combination educational day and golf event, including an informative presentation by Fenestration Canada technical directory, J.F. Kogovsek of Maxam Marketing.  About 50 attendees took in the morning presentations.
