April 7, 2014 - The AVFQ , Quebec's association for the glazing and fenestration industries, has withdrawn from the Canadian Glass Association in a letter sent to the CGA board dated March 20. The letter cites the need for the AVFQ to focus its budget on its own membership programs, and states, "We already have our own committees, training group, events and partnerships with different players in the window and door industry across North America." The letter is signed by Gilbert Lemay, AVFQ director general, and copied to Marc Bilodeau, AVFQ president, and Alain Langis.
Feb. 20, 2014 - At the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) 77th Annual Conference, the association’s membership ratified the 2014 board of directors. The slate included Marg Webb, CHRP, of the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) to fill the affiliated association seat, plus Pella’s Kevin Gaul and Simonton’s Sid Spear to fill seats as residential representatives.
Feb. 18, 2014 - The board of directors of the Canadian Glass Association have announced that Glass Canada freelance writer and glass marketing specialist, Rich Porayko, will be joining the association as interim Executive Director to assist the organization through the transitional process until a permanent Executive Director can be successfully recruited.
The 2013 Win-Door North America show held Nov. 12 through 14 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre demonstrated continued industry strength with exhibitor floor space sales up and registrations on par with previous shows.
The CGA regrets to announce that Fenestration B.C. has left the association.
Feb. 5, 2014 - The board of the Canadian Glass Association has not retained the services of executive director Zana Gordon following a special meeting on Jan. 28. The move follows a tumultuous January for the association that saw Fenestration B.C. leave the national organization. Gordon remains as executive director of FenBC.
Jan. 24, 2014 - Fenestration BC chairman Terry Adamson has commented on FenBC's recent decision to pull out of the Canadian Glass Association. The B.C. association sent letters to the CGA on Jan. 21 announcing its resignation from the national association and its withdrawal from the licensing contract for the Glazing Specifications Manual.
Jan. 22, 2014 - Fenestration B.C. has cancelled its membership in the Canadian Glass Association in a letter sent to the CGA board yesterday. Fenestration B.C. was created in 2011 through the merger of the Window and Door Manufacturers Association of B.C. and the Glazing Contractors Association of B.C. The GCABC had previously been a member of the CGA, but the WDMA-BC had not.

Win-Door 2013 was another tremendous success for the association, attracting another excellent crowd of window and door makers, distributors and retailers for three days of education, shopping and networking at the Toronto Congress Centre Nov. 12 to 14.
On October 10 the CGA hosted the Glass Connections Show in Calgary. A good crowd of 82 people registered to hear five very informative guest speakers.
Nov. 7, 2013 - The Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance has released details of its upcoming 2014 Winter Conference. The conference will take place March 3 to 7, 2014, in San Francisco, Calif. The opening activity is a night tour of Alcatraz. The Emerging Technology and Innovation Committee will meet at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory on March 4, and the remainder the meetings are at the J.W. Marriott Union Square. The Technical Committee will meet on March 5, Certification and Education on the sixth until noon and then education sessions will take place starting in the afternoon through Friday, March 7.
The CGA has adopted an accelerated schedule of monthly board meetings for the first Tuesday of every month at 1:00 p.m.
