Feb. 13, 2015 - The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) has released an updated document laying out the anodizing process with reference to architectural work. According to AAMA, this standard describes the anodizing process, which produces a coating that is thicker than nature's version, harder and very durable.
Jan. 30, 2015 - The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) has released AAMA 510-14, Voluntary Guide Specification for Blast Hazard Mitigation for Vertical Fenestration Systems, which provides a guide to manufacturers, architects, specifiers, contractors and building owners for specifying these types of systems and services to meet the requirements of blast hazard mitigation.
While the National Building Code is clear that testing and labelling fenestration products to the North American Fenestration Standard (NAFS-08) and the Canadian Supplement is mandatory for Part 9 buildings, the application of these standards to commercial fenestration products, in both Part 3 and Part 9 buildings, is less straightforward.

May 29, 2014 - The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) recently updated a Technical Information Report (TIR) providing metal curtain wall designers with the necessary data to select fasteners for curtain wall framing members and components. AAMA TIR-A9-14 also goes into the process of anchoring curtain wall systems to building structures.
April 10, 2014 - The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) board of directors voted unanimously to establish a sustainability steering committee. It will oversee the various AAMA committees and task groups involved in establishing standard practices that lead to product sustainability -- from component development to structural integrity.
March 25, 2014 - The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) has been accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as a Standards Developer. This accreditation includes review and approval of AAMA’s document creation and maintenance program, notably AAMA balloting procedure.
March 10, 2014 - The Standards Council of Canada (SCC), working with the Canadian Hoisting and Rigging Safety Council (CHRSC), is leading a new project that will dig into the roots of a major challenge facing Canadian crane and hoisting industry operators — differing crane and hoisting reference standards across jurisdictions.
Feb. 5, 2014 - The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) has published an updated standard for acoustical performance. AAMA 1801-13, Voluntary Specification for the Acoustical Rating of Exterior Windows, Doors, Skylights and Glazed Wall Sections, describes the use of sound transmission loss test data to calculate Sound Transmission Class (STC) and Outdoor-Indoor Transmission Class (OITC) ratings.
Oct. 22, 2013 - The fall 2013 public review of proposed changes to the 2010 National Model Construction Codes opened last week, running from October 15 until December 13, 2013, on the National Codes website. The Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance encourages its members to be involved in this process, as the review includes IGMA's code request to reference ASTM E1300. The National Model Construction Codes, comprising the national building, fire, plumbing and energy codes, are model codes developed by the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes (CCBFC) that the provinces and territories can adopt as is, or with modifications, as part of their building, fire and plumbing regulations.
Sept. 17, 2013 – The American Architectural Manufacturers Association has updated and released AAMA 925-13, Specification for Determining the Vertical Loading Resistance of Side-Hinged Door Systems, which determines the ability of a side-hinged door system to remain operable following the application of a vertical load along the lock stile of the door leaf.
