IGMA releases vacuum insulating glass technical bulletin

May 29, 2015  By IGM

The Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) has announced the release of a new Vacuum Insulating Glass Technical Bulletin on its webstore. The bulletin is intended to assist residential or commercial insulating glass and window manufacturers on the topic of vacuum insulating glazing (VIG).

VIG has drawn attention around the globe over the past several years as it offers performance approaching a well insulated wall, but with two layers of glass. The uptick in attention prompted IGMA to work on the bulletin with several of its members, including many experts in VIG.

“We feel it is very important to offer this document to the global IG industry,” said Marg Webb, IGMA Executive Director. “Many manufacturers are looking to incorporate VIG and our purpose was to give them the proper tools to accurately determine the benefits of VIG systems.”

VIG task group chair Dave Cooper of Guardian Industries Corp. stated, “We had strong representation from the global VIG community, contributing many hours to create this document. It is a nice primer to VIG and it’s intended usage.”

The bulletin is available to the public for $30 on the IGMA website at www.igmaonline.org. IGMA members in good standing will receive a complimentary copy as a benefit of their membership. The bulletin, as well as many other publications, standards and more, are created as part of IGMA’s excellent technical conferences. This year’s IGMA Fall Technical Conference will be in downtown Denver October 5-8th at the Brown Palace and features top industry experts in several technical and networking sessions. Registration for the conference may be found on the IGMA website.
