CSC to host “Specifying Door Hardware” presentation on April 2

Mar. 27, 2013 – Construction Specifications Canada is hosting a dinner meeting featuring a presentation on specifying hardware, Tuesday, April 2, at the Toronto Skating, Curling and Cricket Club at 141 Wilson Ave., Toronto. Cocktails start at 5:15 p.m. The presentation will serve to show how to select and specify a range of door hardware components to suit various opening requirements and meet the building codes related to life safety, fire safety and barrier-free access. The speaker is specification consultant Gerry Atkin, AHC, Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies.

select and specify a range of door hardware components to suit various opening
requirements and meet the building codes related to life safety, fire safety
and barrier-free access.

The speaker is specification consultant Gerry Atkin, AHC, Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies. Atkin has spent over 30 years in the door and hardware industry,
starting in distribution and now working as a specification consultant for
Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies, a leading manufacturer of door and
security hardware. Gerry has consulted with many of the largest architects in
Toronto and around the world on a wide variety of building types including
education, health care, recreation and performing arts, transportation, office
buildings and detention facilities.

Gerry has also been an active member with the Door and Hardware Institute as
past president of the Ontario Chapter, instructor at DHI schools, and board member
for DHI Canada and the Board of Certification. As a long-time member of the
Toronto Chapter of CSC, Gerry was also a presenter in 2004 at the CSC 50th
Anniversary conference.
