June 14, 2011 — Officials of the 100-year-old American Society of
Safety Engineers’ (ASSE) 2011 Exposition announced that the Chicago
exposition, opened Sunday, is a record breaker. Held in conjunction
with ASSE’s Professional Development Conference (PDC) being held June
12-15 at the Chicago McCormick Place Convention Center, the expo
features close to 500 exhibitors and sold 75,000 square feet. It is
ASSE’s largest expo ever in its 100 year history.  The 2011 expo
exceeded last year’s record breaking numbers in Baltimore which had
just over 400 exhibitors who reserved 62,000 square feet in display
space.

Exhibitors range from large corporations to nonprofit organizations and
colleges, showcasing cutting edge safety technology, information, safety
and health products and available programs and classes for interested
professionals. Many organizations feature interactive displays and
encourage visitors to stop and watch demonstrations of how the newest
safety products work to protect people, property and the environment.

Exhibitors at Safety 2011 include such businesses as Caterpillar, 3M,
Sketchers, TruTouch Technologies, CoreTex Products, OSHA, FabEnco and
several hundred more.

The ASSE exposition is held annually in conjunction with its PDC. Safety
2011, this year’s PDC, runs from June 12-15 in Chicago, IL,  and
features more than 250 educational sessions on safety, health and
environmental issues, including leadership, management, hazard
recognition and elimination and technical skill development.  The PDC
2011 has also exceeded its attendance record with, as of today, just
over 4,100 attendees from over 38 countries have traveled to Chicago for
the more than 500 events tied to ASSE’s 100th anniversary, PDC and expo.
