Accredited Standards Committee Z97 releases new version of ANSI Z97.1

Oct. 9, 2015 –  The Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) Z97 announces the release of the 2015 version of industry standard ANSI Z97.1 Safety glazing materials used in buildings – safety performance specifications and methods of test.

“With the culmination of 5 years of work by the dedicated committee members, the new version of ANSI Z97.1 brings forward clarification and needed changes to the testing and rating of safety glazing,”says, Kevin Olah, Chair of ASC Z97 and Director of Homologation for Guardian Industries.

The new version contains updates to several sections including test interpretation, classification and durability requirements.

ANSI Z97.1 – 2015 is available for purchase on www.ansiz97.com as of today – September 24, 2015. There is an offering of two versions of the standard, a clean easy to read version and a red-line version that has the comparison to the 2009 version of the document.

The committee will be taking a year hiatus as this standard begins to be adopted and will resume review of the document for industry applicability, methodology and product inclusion in 2016.
