Aug. 19, 2015 – CRL’s new 8B Series Base Shoe for monolithic tempered glass recently received ICC-ES certification per Evaluation Report ESR-3269. The report verifies that the base shoe meets building code requirements for performance and safety, and also addresses new 2015 IBC code requirements.
The 8B Series Base Shoe features honeycomb-shaped negative spaces that make it 30% lighter than other base shoes. This simplifies handling and installation and also reduces shipping costs. Because it uses less material, the base shoe is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly product that is eligible for LEED credits. The 8B Base Shoe can be used in conjunction with CRL’s innovative TAPER-LOC Dry Glaze System which can reduce installation time by more than 50%.
The ESR-3269 Evaluation Report is an update to an existing ICC-ES approval for CRL’s GRS Glass Railing System for monolithic tempered glass. Although the 8B Base Shoe has the same ICC-ES approval as other base shoes in the GRS family, its innovative design makes it lighter and available at a lower cost.
ICC-ES is the United States’ leading evaluation service for innovative building materials, components, and systems. In the updated ESR-3269 Evaluation Report, ICC-ES thoroughly examined CRL’s 8B Base Shoe to ensure its test reports, calculations, design, quality control methods, and other factors were code compliant.
