Jeld-Wen conferred the Energy Star Award for Sustained Excellence
June 18, 2010 – Door and window manufacturer Jeld-Wenhas been honoured with one of the industry’s most coveted awards, the 2010 Energy Star Award for Sustained Excellence. The Natural Resources Canada award underscores Jeld-Wen’s commitment to promoting Energy Star certification and its efforts to constantly make its products more energy efficient.

“We are proud and honoured to receive this ENERGY STAR award. Year after year we strive constantly to improve our products with a view to meeting and even surpassing Energy Star standards,” said Lisa Bergeron, director of marketing for Eastern Canada at Jeld-Wen.

The manufacturer has created a number of tools—including websites like www.eco-reno.ca and www.jeld-wen.ca —to keep consumers informed about highly energy efficient products. Jeld-Wen was also in the forefront this year with a new energy efficiency promotion for consumers. The “Make Your Home a Star” contest gave Canadians the chance to win $50,000 to carry out energy efficiency renovations and improvements on their homes.

The first fenestration company in Canada to earn the Energy Star Award for Sustained Excellence was Centennial Windows in 2008. Other businesses, such as Hydro-Québec and Whirlpool, have also won the Energy Star Award for Sustained Excellence in past years. As for Jeld-Wen, its efforts to promote energy efficiency standards also earned it the 2009 Energy Star Participant of the Year Award.
