CRL purchases Blumcraft
June 15, 2010 – C.R. Laurence has announced that the company has completed the purchase of Blumcraft of Pittsburgh, an icon in the architectural metal and glass industry.

“We are very pleased to announce this agreement,” says Lloyd Talbert, president of
C. R. Laurence. “Blumcraft has been designing, manufacturing, and delivering high quality products to the architectural metal and glass industry for over 100 years.  The company is well respected as an innovator and a pioneer in the heavy glass door market with many firsts, including the invention of the first panic door system for heavy glass doors. This product was so well received, it is generally known as a “Blumcraft” within our industry. The company’s tempered glass doors, panic hardware, handrails, and display doors are well known and respected by architects, contractors, and installers.”

“In addition,” Talbert continues, “we anticipate a smooth transition of the production facilities to our main manufacturing location in Los Angeles. We hope to make arrangements with many of the key Blumcraft personnel to stay on with us post-acquisition to ensure our customers are well served during this transition period. This past year, we have expanded our product lines and capabilities with the acquisitions of Tajima, Jackson Manufacturing, and KCS. The acquisition of Blumcraft will benefit our customers and provide them with even more choices of high-quality architectural hardware products. We value the experience, reputation, and technical expertise of the Blumcraft employees and welcome them to the CRL team.”

Blumcraft metalwork elements have been installed in more than 77,000 buildings, including the White House, the Smithsonian Institution, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Louvre in Paris, and many other prestigious buildings around the world.
