Jeld-Wen celebrates 50 years with volunteer initiative
June 14, 2010 – To celebrate 50 years of service, Jeld-Wen employees are giving back to communities across Canada. Each plant or office has been challenged to donate 50 hours of volunteer time to a local, non-profit organization or charity. Over 1,700 employees will be taking part in this cross-Canada initiative.

“We wanted to celebrate our milestone by giving back to the communities that have supported us,” says Lou Valeriati, Canadian Vice President of Operations for Jeld-Wen Windows and Doors. “These events align with our commitment to helping worthwhile charities and we’re glad so many employees have decided to raise awareness for these important causes.”

On June 12, 2010, dozens of Jeld-Wen employees will be running or walking in Saskatoon’s Bridge City Boogie. The annual event raises funds for Raise A Reader, Saskatoon Crisis Nursery and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Saskatoon.

The next scheduled volunteer initiative happens June 19, 2010. Calgary employees will be helping the Friends of Fish Creek Provincial Park remove refuse left over from spring runoff. The annual event aims to improve the health and appearance of the park and benefit the wildlife community that lives in the wetlands.
