Introducing Alice: Direct to glass printing
Mar. 2, 2010 – General Glass International (GGI) has announced the launch of Alice, GGI’s new and innovative, digital, direct-to-glass printing technology that allows custom, multi-coloured designs to be printed on glass quickly and cost-effectively. Imagine colour images, various opacities and custom designs, all on glass.

Alice can be used to digitally print on many types of glass, including decorative and
specialty glass, in a multitude of applications. From curtain walls to table tops, Alice
can be seen on building façades, office partitions, backsplashes, public art in lobbies
and foyers, entrance door systems, shower enclosures in homes, nameplates on desks, signage and donor boards.

“We are extremely excited about our Alice digital printing technology,” said General
Glass International President David Balik. “For over 100 years GGI has been building the foundation to become a highly reliable producer of custom, heavy fabricated glass, as well as a leading supplier and distributor of decorative and specialty glass from around the world. Alice now allows us to expand even further and become the creative, digital-printing partner of choice for the architectural design community.”

GGI is working with the architectural, hospitality, design, glazing contracting and public art communities to incorporate the use of printed customized imagery in traditional and non-traditional spaces. Alice permanently prints any image on glass at a 360 dpi (dots per inch) resolution, including photos, drawings, logos, lines, dots and text. In other words, Alice prints on glass at resolutions greater than those needed to print high-end fashion magazines, or for that matter, Glass Canada. GGI’s standard production sizes range from 3” X 12” to 84” X 144” with glass thickness ranging from 3/16” to 3/4”.

With colour choices that are virtually limitless, GGI’s digital colour-matching process allows technicians to create custom colours in thousands of shades and an infinite number of opacities. Alice products carry an unprecedented 10-year limited warranty against fading. Please visit www.Alice-d2g.com   for more information.
