Bendheim introduces EcoGlass

Nov. 10, 2009, Passaic,N.J. – Bendheim announces EcoGlass, a new line of textured architectural glasscontaining 60 percent recycled material and produced in a highly enviro-sensitive factory.

Bendheim says EcoGlassis well-suited for a range of commercial and residential applications, including curtainwalls, partitions, sliding doors, shower enclosures, and lighting.

“We recognized the demand for enviro-friendly architectural glass with clearly identifiable green attributes, and collaborated with our long-time partner Lamberts to bring EcoGlass to market,” said Donald Jayson, Senior Vice President of Bendheim. “From manufacture to application, our EcoGlasses are exceptionally green and will contribute to a project’s aesthetics and sustainability.”

Manufactured byGlasfabrik Lamberts in Europe’s only clean-burning oxygen/fuel-fired cast glassfurnace, EcoGlasses contain a minimum 20 percent pre-consumer and up to 40 percent post-consumer recycled glass. For safety and security applications, Bendheim tempers EcoGlass in a highly energy-efficient oven and laminates utilizing environmentally-sensitive processes and materials.

EcoGlass has excellent daylighting qualities and is available in 10 textures, offering varying degreesof privacy. The glass can be supplied in combination with custom colorinterlayers or color coatings for decorative feature walls and backsplashes. Bendheim’s proprietary color-coating process employs isocyanate-free pigments and produces a VOC-free, maintenance-friendly product.

EcoGlass can contributepoints to LEED v.3: EA Credit 1 “Optimize Energy Performance,” MR Credit 4 “RecycledContent,” and IEQ Credits 8.1 and 8.2 “Daylight & Views.”

The glass is offered in 5/32” (4mm), 1/4” (6mm) and 3/8” (10mm) thicknesses and is available in sheet sizes up to 70” by 126”. Samples and more information are available from Bendheim. Please call 1-800-606-7621, or visit www.bendheim.com.
