Continually fed
edger
The Sommer & Maca Machinery division of CR Laurence has introduced the Somaca VFE4C Four Cup Wheel Flat and Seam Edger.

The company says the VFE4C Edger does flat and seam edge work on 1/8 inch (3 mm) to ½ inch (12 mm) glass, in any random order without needing adjustment. Since it runs glass as it is being cut in real time, glass of any size and thickness can be continually fed without stopping the machine. Pneumatically actuated seaming and polishing wheels automatically adjust between each piece of glass.

Various thicknesses of glass are continually kept in alignment during grinding with a solid rear registration conveyor. Because adjustments are not required the need for a highly trained operator is virtually eliminated.

The VFE4C Edger also features an easy-to-operate control panel with a one button start, and all gauges are conveniently located at eye level to monitor performance.  A large heavy-duty machine base and glass racks easily support 100 inch (2.5 meter) long glass lites. Wheel lubrication during grinding is provided via a re-circulating coolant tank and pump system, assuring consistent, quality grinding and long wheel life.

Included with every VFE4C is one set of processing wheels. Finished glass samples are available by contacting the company.
