Erdman Automation offers new automated horizontal Super Spacer line March 30, 2010 – Because most insulating glass (IG) manufacturing in North America is done using horizontal equipment, Erdman Automation Corp. has developed a new domestically made Super Spacer solution that the company says can be easily assimilated into existing lines. Available in manual, semi-automated and fully automated versions, the new Super Spacer line can be sold modularly or as a full production line for up to 50 percent less cost than vertical equipment solutions. New sales manager at SAF Mar. 30, 2010 – SAF has announced the promotion of John B. McClatchey Jr. to Sales Manager effective this year. In his new position McClatchey heads SAF's aluminum extrusions, sheet, fabrication, anodizing, paint and powder coating sales. He will continue to work with his established outside sales customers while overseeing inside sales, regional and representative sales associates nation-wide. NFRC to offer ACE training Mar. 29, 2010 – The National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) will offer a workshop for those seeking certification as an NFRC Approved Calculation Entity (ACE), following its Spring 2010 Membership Meeting. The workshop will be held April 15-16 in New Orleans. Edgetech I.G. announces two appointments Mar. 29, 2010 – Edgetech I.G. has promoted Mike Burk to manager, workplace learning and performance, and Adam Sanders joins the team as quality engineer. Burk joined Edgetech in 2007 as product manager and has most recently served the company as technical service manager. Sanders previously held the positions of process engineer and application engineer for Edgetech’s sister company Lauren Manufacturing.Argotec introduces EdgeSealPLUS Mar. 26, 2010 — Argotec has announced the introduction of EdgeSealPLUS, a new and improved version of its original product used to seal the edges of multilayered laminated glass composites. Super Spacer chosen for Power*e windows Mar. 24, 2010 – Radiant Glass Industries (RGI) and sister company Busick Insulated Glass have collaborated to develop a product that is not only energy efficient, but is energy generating. Using Power*e Glass designed and developed by RGI, Busick manufactures insulating glass (IG) units that use safe, low voltage DC power to warm the inside of the glass pane – creating a system that is nearly 100 percent efficient. New director appointed for Dow Corning Construction Industry Mar. 23, 2010 – Jim Hayes has been named commercial director for the Dow Corning Construction Industry, Americas region, and will be responsible for advancing several of the company’s construction initiatives focused on developing innovative energy efficiency and green building solutions. Previously, Hayes led several energy management programs within Dow Corning’s Business & Technology Incubator.GCABC recognizes Red Seal journeypersons Mar. 22, 2010 – The Glazing Contractors Association of British Columbia (GCABC) has announced that as of March 1, 2010 they will be presenting an award to all glazing apprentices who have written and passed the Red Seal inter-provincial exams. Viracon’s Don McCann to speak at MIT Mar. 19, 2010 – Don McCann, architectural design manager at Viracon, will be joining leading architects, engineers and design experts to speak at the “Glass & Glazing in the 21st Century: Design & Preservation of Contemporary & Historic Architecture” conference hosted by MIT this weekend. |
