Pilkington Solar-E now available in a variety of colours Feb. 25, 2010 – Pilkington is expanding its architectural line of energy efficient solar control Low-E products. The Pilkington Solar-E coating is now available on a palette of natural colors – Arctic Blue, Blue-Green and Grey, to complement Pilkington Solar-E on clear and the company’s other lines of pyrolytic Low-E products. Kawneer to invest in central, eastern Canadian markets Feb. 23, 2010 — Kawneer has announced that it plans to combine its current Scarborough facility and Mississauga Service Centre into a new and expanded Fabrication Centre by the end of Q4 2010. Additionally, new fabrication capabilities will be added to its Montreal Service Centre. Kawneer says these upgrades will provide customers in Central and Eastern Canada with a broader range of resources, as well as increased production, resulting in shorter lead times and enhanced quality. Guardian names Scott Thomsen group VP, North American Flat Glass Feb. 23, 2010 – Guardian Industries has named Scott Thomsen Group Vice-president for North American Flat Glass operations, a new position at the company. Thomsen will oversee all aspects of flat glass including facilities, fabrication, marketing, sales, financial, business development and services.Edgetech I.G. exclusive distributor for Sparklike Feb. 23, 2010 – Edgetech I.G. has announced that it has entered into an agreement with Helsinki, Finland-based Sparklike, Ltd. to be the exclusive distributor for the Gasglass argon and krypton gas detector and Spyglass glass analyzer in the Americas, Europe and Australia. Prior to the invention of the Gasglass technology, manufacturers had to virtually destroy units to test gas fill levels.Glasslam files complaint against Edgetech, two industry groups Feb. 18, 2010 – Nebula Glass International, which does business as Glasslam, has filed a formal complaint of anti-competitive and illegal practices with the Federal Trade Commission of the United States. The complaint has been filed against Edgetech IG., the Insulating Glass Certification Council (IGCC), and the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA).
