Republic workers face hard times with high hopes
Dec. 22, 2009 – Even after their historic victory, it has been a lean year for most workers from Republic Windows and Doors. Though the factory occupation a year ago won them the severance and vacation pay they were due, only about 20 have been rehired at Serious Materials Chicago.

AAMA releases eight revised documents
Dec. 21, 2009 – The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) has released eight documents that have been reviewed and editorially updated. The revised documents have been updated with the 2009 year designator along with a note on the cover stating "editorially revised."

On up to 24 floors and 120,000 square metres, the Japanese star architect Dr. Kisho Kurokawa has designed a so-called "layered city".


EPA raids Calumite
Dec. 17, 2009 – Officials of the Environmental Protection Agency have searched a slag producer's plant at the Port of Indiana and its office as part of an investigation into potential environmental crimes.

Dec. 16, 2009 – A research team has developed Singapore's first eco-friendly way of recycling waste glass into building materials that are expected to be more than two times stronger than concrete.

GLASSPEX INDIA debuts to great success
Dec. 16, 2009 – The premiere staging of GLASSPEX INDIA, International Exhibition for Glass Production - Processing – Products, was a great success: 139 exhibitors from over 20 countries and 3,200 trade visitors took part in the recently held event in New Delhi.


Demonstration shows 50 years of evolution
Dec. 11, 2009 – The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently conducted a crash test between a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air and a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu in honor of its own 50th anniversary. Despite the size of the Bel Air, the Malibu fared much better in the crash.

NFRC announces results of latest board election
Dec. 9, 2010 – The National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) recently elected one member to serve on its Board of Directors and re-elected two others. Each will serve a three-year term, beginning this month.
